Tharpe played a stunning 1961 Gibson Les Paul SG Custom, and toured the US’s Jim Crow south during a period rife with racism, despite not being allowed a hotel room. Today we view the tourbus as a symbol that someone has truly ‘made it’. But back when Tharpe was on the road, she had no choice but to sleep on her own bus.
Great research and little-known facts! Nicely done! I didn't know that about Little Richard being so encouraged by Sister Rosetta! Never underestimate your contributions to rock history, as this piece will shine a bright light as long as there's an internet!
Know that they're sincere, or else I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing with such zeal and fervor! I intend to leave my mark (and occasional ink stain) on a tiny, little corner of rock history. By the way, Zeal & Fervor left their mark as a Borscht Belt comedy team on the east coast in the 1930s!😁👍🌟
By the way, for your June output, I draw your attention to my recent article on Jobriath to use in whatever way you see fit. I won't leave the link here, but it's a recent piece, easily findable in my recent Archive!
You read my mind Brad! I was going to DM you about it as I'd love to cross post it for Pride Month. As an out glam rocker, he should be honored this month. I've got a week in mind and will email you details.
Happy to hear it! My fear was that you hopped on board just after I pubbed it, and might've missed it! I'd be honored to have it "paraded" around on STSYL! Just between you and me, Job and I have a lot in common (if you'll keep it under your snappy chapeau): While I was in high school in Houston, TX, I too was a lead singer fronting a rock band in the early '70s, wearing long hair and silver lamé. But, there was one more thing.😉I eagerly await your e-mail!
Thank you so much for recommending us. We love what you do too. We'll definitely be sharing some of your posts to our readers/listeners in our newsletters, as they are right up their street. x

She deserved so much more, and still does.
